Product Description & Reviews
John Peters familiarizes us with the groundbreaking ideas that he is developing in graduate education classes at the University of Tennessee. Through discussion and examples he shows us how he brings social constructionist ideas into action in his classes. He describes three types of learning, the first being teaching by transmission where the teacher is the source of information and learning is by reception. The second is similar with the addition of sharing information. Here teachers are not the only source of knowledge. He calls this cooperative learning and the teacher remains in charge.. The third type of learning is collaborative. Here people labor together to construct knowledge. The teacher becomes a member of the group.
