Product Description & Reviews
John works with Ally, a woman currently in graduate school and engaged to be married. Ally feels as if she is not measuring up financially in her relationship with her fiancé. She feels guilty that her finance works long hours as a fire-fighter and brings in more money than she does. John uses Narrative Therapy and acts as a collaborator with Ally in his work with her. John uses deconstructive questions to find out where Ally's ideas of self come from and helps her uncover values that are situated in a larger cultural experience. John explores both cultural and family expectations with Ally to get a better sense of why she feels the way she does. The notion of equality on all levels, is powerfully ingrained with how Ally views marriage. Ally's parents both work, splitting all things 50/50, and Ally feels a strong need to cut a similar path. John also helps Ally explore society's expectations of her, allowing her to better understand societal influences on her expectations and feelings of what she should be doing.
